Chieko Donker Duyvis Trio
Chieko Donker Duyvis is celliste, zangeres en componiste uit Amsterdam met Braziliaans-Japanse roots. Juliano Abramovay (gitaar, ud) en Angelo Ursini (fluit, klarinet) zijn bevlogen musici uit Brazilië.
Samen creëren ze een wervelende, multi-instrumentale sound die beweegt tussen avontuurlijke improvisaties en eigen composities, geïnspireerd door Braziliaanse en Japanse tradities: dansende ritmes en verstilde, impressionistische sferen. Met een rijk palet aan klanken, van cello en stem tot ud, gitaar en Braziliaanse volksinstrumenten zoals rabeca en volksfluit, ontstaat een speelse dialoog vol levensvreugde.

Chieko Donker Duyvis is a cellist, singer, and composer from Amsterdam with Brazilian-Japanese roots. Juliano Abramovay (guitar, oud) and Angelo Ursini (flute, clarinet) are passionate musicians from Brazil. Together they create a whirling, multi-instrumental sound that moves between adventurous improvisations and original compositions, inspired by Brazilian and Japanese traditions: dancing rhythms and calm, impressionistic atmospheres. With a rich palette of sounds, from cello and voice to oud, guitar, and Brazilian folk instruments such as rabeca and folk flute, a playful dialogue full of joy of life emerges.

But it is also the name of a newly formed duo that brings music from the Balkan Peninsula to you with great love, served with all the favorite spices from the region. The duo invites you to join them in a celebration of music from the rich musical traditions of Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, the western Balkans, and a touch of the east.
